~ What is Slacklining?

 

Slacklining is similar to Tightrope or Highwire walking, but instead uses a specially designed, flexible woven webbing, stretched between two fixed points or anchors,above the ground.

 

There are many different versions of Slacklining being practiced all over the world, from sponsored, elite professionals, performing "Dynamic" Tricklining on the world circuit, to the incredible "Zen" of Highlining,  Longlining, Waterlining and Yogalining performed by adventurers wanting to take it to the limit of balance.

~ Slacklining  History 

You may think of Slacklining as a new sport; while balancing on webbing is a relative new invention, rope walking has been used around the world for over 2000 years.                    The Korean tradition of Jultagi was practised possibly as early as 57 BC on hemp ropes.

Around the 1800's when the industrial revolution made steel cable available, it was stabilised & tensioned with guy wires and used by Highwire artists and Circus performers around the world called Funambulists, like Con Colleano,  an Australian tightwire wizard 1930's.

Modern day Slacklining ­ (1960 / 70's) evolved from the rock climbing culture in Yosemite Valley campground, California (Pat Ament & others) Then Adam Grosowsky and Jeff Ellington, while attending Olympia College, in Washington State, used basic climbing gear - tubular webbing & carabiners, to create the Primitive  or Ellington method. 

 

Today there are now different pulley and ratching systems used to tension the lines and

the birth of modern day Slacklining begins.

Bodybalance Slackline has been created from a personal desire & passion to share the amazing benefits of slacklining with other people, who are wanting to find internal balance, between their Mind, Body & Spirit.

 

Used as a subtle, but deep, therapeutic practice, slacklining can show people what is happening

inside their bodies. By learning the practice, they enhance, grow, strengthen & empower themselves and discover body awareness and balance.

 

Slacklining is a very powerful tool, used to mirror or reflect. 

It works by challenging & developing the 3 major aspects of the human balance system -

 Visual, Proprioceptive & Vestibular.

 

Slacklining also stimulates the Circulatory, Respiratory, Nervous & Musclo-skeletal systems.

 

By stepping out of our comfort zone & being challenged within the whole body,

the EFFECT is truly amazing. 

 

By targeting and working on our - Focus, Agility, Will, Core Strength & Relaxation,

we learn to:

 

 

 

 Empty the mind of all thoughts.

 Feel our flexibility or lack thereof.

I like to be conscious and aware in my life, of my surroundings and my attention to detail,

so I use the best quality, accredited equipment set up with the current guidelines, combined with proper spill & spotting training techniques.

 

I have a genuine regard for peoples health / well being & always with consideration of the planet. I like to be pro-active & ensure the safest possible training environment for all people, wanting to learn Slacklining. I encourage any beginner wishing to learn, to get the proper training with an Accredited Slackline (Australia) Teacher.

 

I provide a caring & nurturing environment for people of all ages. Using a positive, enthusiastic approach to teaching, with an emphasis on patience, encouragement & positive, constructive feedback, I help people to find balance on the line & furthermore, balance in everyday life.

 

It’s important to find joy, fun & happiness in life, which is something I love to bring into my classes. "When you enjoy what you’re doing, then you can only succeed"

"COOPER" - Todd  Becconsall 

Has been on a personal healing journey,

for the last 30 years and still continues

on this path, with the philosophy of

 

        ~ Balance in Motion ~

 

 

 

I have travelled the world learning a diverse range of skills, from many different cultures,

tribal elders & teachers in different modalities. Body Balance is created from a desire to maintain, internal balance & awareness of Body, Mind & Spirit.

  

Bodybalance Slackline helps me to share the benefits of Slacklining and assist people to enjoy the experience, in a safe and integrative way. By combining my depth of life skills, I happily share this knowledge in a positive and enthusiastic way and provide a caring & nurturing environment for people of all ages and levels of ability.

 

My approach is joyful, fun and patient. I provide encouragement along with constructive feedback, which helps participants to experience the maximum benefits. This enables participants to find balance 'on the line' & furthermore, balance in their everyday lives.
